Can I watch GAA+ when abroad?

Yes, you can watch GAA+ when abroad BUT please beaware if you are ordinarily based in a territory where there are viewing restrictions in place for our service (the island of Ireland - NI & ROI or Great Britain - England, Scotland, Wales), you may encounter some difficulties gaining access to content.


If buying ahead of travelling:

When you attempt to purchase content that's not available to watch in your region on our website, you will be notified of this and asked to confirm you understand by clicking 'Okay, I want to buy this to watch elsewhere' in order to go ahead with the purchase (see below). Approve this and continue with the payment process as normal.


If buying when away / watching when abroad:

You shouldn't have an issue purchasing or accessing the game whilst abroad once your location is read correctly. 

To ensure this please:


1. Turn off mobile data on your device / don't connect to a mobile data connection

2. Connect to a local Wi-Fi source

3. If using the app please delete and uninstall it and allow location to be accessed with the pop-up that appears

4. If using the website clear your browser cookies and cache then log back into the site

Pass Holders:

If you are a Season Pass holder, as outlined in the description of your package, your pass grants you access to the GAA+ Exclusive games on our service during the Championship stage of the season in which you purchase the pass package.

  • Access to content produced by RTÉ, TG4, and BBC NI is not included in this pass package due to viewing rights restrictions in place in the territory but can be accessed via the carrying broadcasters' services (TV channel / online players) when on the island of Ireland (NI & ROI)
  • As RTÉ, TG4, and BBC broadcasts are not included in this package, if you wish to watch an item of content produced by one of those broadcasters whilst traveling outside of the island of Ireland and Great Britain you will be able to access it on our service once your location is picked up correctly (see: How do I make sure my location is picked up correctly?) but will not have automatic access to them (as they are not included in your package) and be required to purchase access to such content additionally. 
  • If you are in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) at the time of the All-Ireland games, you will be able to access the games free-to-air / free-of-charge via BBC's services and the associated highlight shows on our service but will need to purchase access to the highlight shows additionally as access to them is not included in your pass package. 


Similarly, if you are an Annual Pass GB holder, as outlined in the description of your pass package, your pass includes access to all content on GAA+ except games televised by BBC during the Championship stage of the season due to rights restrictions (approximately 6 games a year including the All-Ireland Semis and Finals). 

  • If you are in Great Britain at the time of the All-Ireland Games you will be able to access them via BBCs services (TV channel / iPlayer) 
  • If you are traveling outside of GB at the time of the All-Ireland games, you will be able to watch them on our service once your location is picked up correctly (see: How do I make sure my location is picked up correctly?) but will be required to purchase access to the content additionally as access to it is not included in your pass package. 
  • Annual Pass GB holders traveling on the island of Ireland (NI & ROI) will not be able to access games broadcast by RTÉ, TG4 or BBC NI on our service due to viewing rights restrictions in place in the territory but will be able to access them via the relevant broadcaster's services (TV channel / online players).


Annual Pass holders located outside of the island of Ireland (NI & ROI) and Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) should be able to access all content on our service.

  • Annual Pass holders travelling on the island of Ireland (NI & ROI) will not be able to access games broadcast by RTÉ, TG4 or BBC NI on our service due to rights restrictions in place in the territory.
  • Similarly, Annual Pass holders will not be able to access games televised by BBC if travelling in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) at the time of the All-Ireland games. In both instances, you will however, be able to access the content elsewhere, see - Accessing All-Ireland Games
